I built this because my reps kept quoting jobs I could not order.

WHY IT EXISTS

The rep is not the problem. What he is holding is.

I can walk a house and know what it takes. Which trim goes at that corner, what the exposure gives me for course count, whether the sheet he picked covers a nine foot wall in one run. That is ten years of doing it.

My reps do not have that. They are not lazy and they are not bad at their jobs. They are being asked to produce a number that depends on knowledge nobody handed them.

So they guess. Sometimes the guess is high and we lose the job. Sometimes it is low and I find out at the counter, or on the ladder, or when the crew runs three courses short and does something reasonable looking with what is left.

I have made nothing on jobs. I have paid customers back on jobs. Every time, the mistake happened at the quote, not on the roof.

THE RULE

A contractor should never be able to quote a number he cannot order.

That is the only rule Tekdek follows and everything else comes out of it.

Assemblies come already built, so nobody is deciding what trim goes where. Quantities derive from the wall, so nobody is estimating boards. Every line shows the measurement it came from. Pricing comes off your own distributor catalog. The purchase order is built from the same object as the customer proposal, which means the number the homeowner signs and the number on the material order cannot drift apart.

When something does not add up, it says so before you order. No panel sheet covers a nine foot wall in one course. That is my knowledge, written down, told to a rep who would not have known to check.

HOW I KNOW IT WORKS

I barely sell anymore.

I run an exteriors company in Houston. It is where every assembly in here came from and it is where all of this gets tested first.

I used to go out on the jobs that mattered because the estimate had to be right. Now it is reps, and I go occasionally, and the difference is not that they got better. It is that the math stopped depending on me being the one in the room.

That is the whole product. Your least experienced rep quotes like you do.

What I owe you.

The assemblies will be right before you quote your first job. If an order code changes, we find it before your purchase order bounces at the counter. If Tekdek gives you a number you cannot order, that is a bug and I want to hear about it the same day.

I am not going to tell you this replaces knowing the trade. It replaces needing everyone on your team to know it as well as you do.
